BarOS 8 (also known as BarOS System 8 and Bar System 8 in different parts of the game) is the eighth operating system in the Progresh lineup, it is based on MacOS 8, made by Apple Computer and released in 1997.

According to the About box, the system was released in 1993, two years before BarOS 9.

Trivia

• Despite having a modem, this system doesn't have the Progressnet access.
  • Additionally, in the game's files, an icon of Barari in the "art/skins/B8" folder can be found.
• The "Progresh BC 800" computer is based on the Macintosh LC 500 series.
• Despite Mac OS 8 not being called "System Software 8", the Boot Menu and System dialog still refer to it as "Bar System 8" or "BarOS System 8".
• This is the first BarOS system to have 3D icons, the second is BarOS 9.
